Bench Press This!
When you go to the gym and see a person pressing more weight than you, it can be intimidating and produce jealousy. Sometimes, however, it is motivating. It makes you want to press more, and you feel a challenge rising. Where is the challenge for the mind and soul, though?
Within our country, we seem to have an overindulgence in eating or exercising. That sounds contradictory but it’s true. Gyms, work out programs, and marathons are popping up everywhere. Business is good because so many people want to change their body and shed some pounds. Then you have those that are the regulars. They are always training, perpetually dieting, and obsessively pushing to the next competition. Not that this is bad. It is better to be in shape than not. Even so, a balanced life is the key.
While physical training is beneficial, what about the mind? What about the soul? Are we becoming dull in our thinking and sluggish in our spirit just to tone up a fading physique? Eventually, gravity will pull our bones and muscles toward atrophy. Our minds don’t give way so quickly, though. Our souls . . . they exist forever.
Who will help us sharpen our minds and stretch our souls? When we run behind someone, have someone spot us when lifting, or get a personal trainer, it is much easier to get in shape. We must find a way to form our cognitive abilities and spiritual man as well. Otherwise, we are out of balance. We would enjoy assisting with this. Let us know if you need some motivation!
