Thoughts and Musings from City of Refuge Church

COR Values

The City of Refuge [COR] is a new church. All churches are not the same. One way to know the difference is what the people value. Of course, they must live out those values rather than post it on the wall. Our COR Values can be summarized as:

  • Seek
  • Share
  • Live
  • Lead

We Seek Christ and people. We Share the Gospel and love. We Live in community together. We Lead through developing disciple-makers.

The number one priority of Jesus Christ was His Heavenly Father. He stated that his food and drink is to do the will of the Father (John 4:34). His nourishment, sustenance, and craving was to honor His Father. All that He did and said came from His Father (John 5:19). So what was important to the Father was important to Christ.

Christ pursued people of all kinds. He shared the good news with them and loved them well. He wasn’t a loner. He had a community of men and women that were real tight. He also chose some young men that were nobodies in society, and He spent all His time developing them into leaders to change the world.

God loves people. He made them in His own image (Genesis 1:27). He sent His Son to die to bring us the good news (the Gospel) that He desires a relationship with us. God has always lived in community as the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (John 15:26, 17:5). His mission while on earth was to invest in people in order for them to invest in others all around the world [Matthew 28:19-20].

The COR values above are important to us because they are important to Christ. We strive to be loyal to Him and His mission. We are growing as a community. If you would like to learn more or join us on the journey, we welcome your presence and your questions.
